iPhone 17 Pro Models May Feature 5x Optical Zoom
A report from TheElec claims that only the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will get a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This feature will not be available on the regular iPhone 17 devices.
Apple’s supplier, LG Innotek, plans to invest in new facilities to boost camera module production. These facilities will support next year’s iPhones and improve LG’s competitiveness in the optical solutions market.
The iPhone 17 Pro models will likely have the folded zoom feature, just like the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple frequently saves its most expensive features for its Pro models.
The company first introduced the 5x telephoto lens with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which later came to the iPhone 16 Pro.
LG Innotek is also expected to supply the camera modules for the iPhone SE 4, which may launch in March 2025.
